Education Tech Startup, OneSchool, Secures $750k Funding Round and Launches across Eight Universities

500 Startups Grad Sees Rapid User Adoption among College Students

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – January 24, 2012 – OneSchool, a developer of mobile tools for college students, today announced that they have closed a $750,000 seed round and are officially launching their smartphone app at eight universities across the country. The OneSchool mobile app is designed for students to navigate college campuses and connect with classmates easily. Within a single app, students can discover the best lunch spots, buy textbooks, find their classroom on the go, and more.

OneSchool has already seen rapid adoption and high usage during testing – they have a user base of 1.28 million students, 75% of which use the app daily. At Penn State University, the founders’ alma mater, 80% of students with smartphones have downloaded the OneSchool app on campus.

OneSchool today officially launches across eight campuses, including Stanford University, Yale University, Penn State University, Columbia University, UCLA, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Houston, and University of Waterloo. OneSchool’s investors include Learn Capital, 500 StartUps, and Magnolia Ventures LLC among others, and the team plans to use the funding they’ve received to continue rolling out the app at more campuses with additional features.

“OneSchool is a company to watch in the education tech space,” said Philip Reicherz, Founder and Managing Partner at Magnolia Ventures LLC. “The OneSchool team is taking advantage of smartphone adoption among college students and offering a product that will help students get the most out of their college experience.”

“We’re laying the groundwork for a higher education cloud-based platform,” said David Adewumi, CEO of OneSchool. “Our vision is for school professors, employers, and advertisers to use OneSchool as a communication channel to reach students, while students connect to all the people, places, and things they need for the college lifestyle.”
