Gesture Interaction Leader Powering Technology from Multiple Companies at Mobile World Congress

MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS – BARCELONA – February 25, 2013 – Softkinetic, the leading 3D gesture recognition software and solution provider, today announced its technology will power gesture control solutions from several leading electronics providers at Mobile World Congress, February 25 – 28 in Barcelona, Spain. Across the show floor, companies including Intel, Marvell, and YOUi Labs will be demonstrating a range of gesture control interfaces and technologies powered by SoftKinetic’s solutions – from full body tracking in a living room experience to finger tracking on laptops and desktop computers.

Attendees and members of the media will be able to interact with these SoftKinetic-powered solutions at Mobile World Congress.  At booth 7F50 (hall 7), SoftKinetic partner YOUi Labs will demonstrate a smart TV user interface powered by SoftKinetic’s DepthSense® 311 camera and iisu® middleware that can be controlled completely with gestures as well as recognize individual users via biometrics and scene analysis. Similar projects with YOUi Labs will also be on display at the Marvell booth (booth 6C44, hall 6). Finally, at booth 8.1E20 (hall 8.1) Intel will demonstrate its Perceptual Computing laptop experience, where Intel’s Creative Interactive Gesture Camera (based on SoftKinetic’s DepthSense camera technology) and iisu middleware (included in the Intel SDK) are used to track hand and finger gestures at close range.

“Gesture-based controls and recognition are quickly moving into many parts of our daily lives – from the living room to the office and beyond. As an established leader in this field we are working with a number of high profile companies to bring this technology to market,” said Michel Tombroff, chief executive officer of SoftKinetic. “We are excited to help power both close interaction and long range experiences with such an esteemed group of partner companies at this year’s Mobile World Congress.”

Representatives from SoftKinetic will also be in attendance at Mobile World Congress.  Members of the media interested in meeting to discuss the company’s technology and offerings are encouraged to contact softkinetic@triplepointpr.com.
