NetEase Releases Popular PC Game on iOS, Spreads High Quality of Games to All Platforms

Redwood Shores, Calif. – May 13, 2015 – NetEase, Inc. (NTES), a publicly traded Internet technology and video game company headquartered in China, today announced that its most recently released mobile game, Fantasy Westward Journey, has climbed to the top of the Chinese App Store charts. Within two hours of its March 26 launch, the game became the number one free game in the App Store. The game then quickly rose to be the top grossing iPhone app, after seeing over one million players joining the beta program on day one. Currently, Fantasy Westward Journey has been downloaded over 10 million times and remains #1 on the top downloaded chart on the App Store.

After witnessing strong growth in the mobile games space in China, NetEase is placing an emphasis on similar high quality mobile offerings for audiences across the globe. With the opening of its headquarters in the US earlier this year, the company is planning on releasing both licensed and original IPs across all major platforms for players in the West.

“The incredible traction and instant adoption we saw with Fantasy Westward Journey in China reaffirms our need to commit the same quality of IP to Western gamers,” said David Ting, General Manager of NetEase North America. “The strong reception of the game foretells our ability to cultivate loyal communities of gamers across the world.”

Originally released for PC, Fantasy Westward Journey has a strong following on the platform, with over 310 million registered users.
