SEGA Hires Joseph Kim as Vice President of Product for Mobile Division

Executive to lead mobile product strategy and manage cross-functional teams

SAN FRANCISCO – November 4, 2015 – SEGA® today announced that it has hired Joseph Kim as Vice President of Product, to lead its mobile product strategy in the West. Kim previously served as FunPlus’ Studio Head in the Strategy Division and External General Manager of the Vancouver office.

“This position is instrumental in pulling all three of our wholly owned studios and two studio investments together to drive SEGA’s success on mobile,” said Chris Olson, COO, SEGA Networks. “Kim’s rich background in successfully bringing games to market along with his experience in consulting and analytics makes him the best candidate for the job, and we look forward to seeing him work his magic.”

Over the course of his career, Kim has worked on numerous noteworthy titles including Faraway Kingdoms: Dragon Raiders (Smilegate), NBA Rush (RenRen Games USA), and Fantasy Quest (GAMEVIL). Further, Kim has acted as a consultant or advisor to a number of mobile game studios including CMUNE, RenRen Games USA, Smilegate, Ninja Theory and Brainz. He was also responsible for launching League of Heroes on Myspace and Facebook, an early social game that was one of the highest monetizing games of its time on a per-user basis, and the first to introduce guild vs. guild mechanics.
