Time-Looping Roguelike Erosion Reveals Playtest Date and New Release Schedule

The neon wildwest opens for playtesting June 23 on Steam as Plot Twist and Lyrical Games chart a course to 1.0

KRAKÓW, Poland – June 1, 2026 – Plot Twist, the developers behind The Last Case of Benedict Fox, and publisher Lyrical Games, have announced a free playtest for time-looping roguelike, Erosion, opening June 23 through June 30 on Steam, ahead of the game’s planned early 2027 launch. Lyrical Games revealed the news during The MIX showcase.

If your daughter was kidnapped, you would do anything to find her. Erosion challenges you to blast through voxel dungeons and vanquish epic arcade-inspired bosses, at least until your hearts run out. When they do, you’ll find that your daughter and everything else in the world you once knew are 10 years older. As time skips forward with every respawn, how old will she be when you finally reach her? Dive deeper into the dungeon by exploring an open neon-west overworld, completing quests, unlocking new gear, and choosing your fated timelines along the way. It’s what you must do to save your daughter and save the world. 

Features of Erosion:

• A World That Ages Without You: Your daughter’s been kidnapped by a warlord and dragged into the mysterious living Pillar that warps time itself. You have to get her back. The catch? When you die, the world jumps forward a decade, aging your daughter and changing the world around you. Master full timeline control and rewrite every possible future before time steals your daughter away for good.
• Decide the Fate(s) of the Neon WildWest: Between runs, explore a massive wasteland overworld where your choices actually stick. Join a cult, steal a ride, hunt bounties, race trucks through the salt flats, or gamble your Cheddar at the Al Cashino. Complete quests to unlock permanent upgrades and build up factions across decades.
• Conquer the Time Pillar: What lies within the marble obelisk where your daughter was taken? Filled with dangerous challenges and epic boss fights, you’ll need to load up to reach her. Collect dozens of weapons with unique perks and playstyles, from ritual bows that draw strength from blood to the legendary Ebony Rooster that shoots bouncy eggs. Mix and match 100+ skills and modifiers to build something completely broken; the possibilities for experimentation and customization are virtually limitless.

In addition to the trailer and details, Plot Twist announced the shift from an Early Access launch to a full 1.0 release in early 2027. Plot Twist’s CEO, Tomasz Gawlikowski, explained, “We wanted players to get the game’s full experience right when we launch. Even though we won’t be doing Early Access, player feedback is still hugely important to us. That’s why we are inviting anyone to an open playtest later this month. We’re excited to hear what you think so that we can make Erosion the best game it can be.”
