Major Founder Access update introduces new gameplay, modular ships, stellar hazards, evolving Ferals, and Dormant Gates 

REYKJAVÍK, Iceland – June 25, 2026 – Today, Fenris Creations launched Cycle 6: Sanctuary for EVE Frontier, the in-development hardcore space survival MMO. Available now, the Founder Access update introduces new gameplay systems, a modular vessel, environmental hazards, new and updated Feral enemies, and a rebuilt opening experience. Sanctuary also begins with a full server reset, giving new and returning players a fresh start, while a five-day Free Trial is available to new players and existing account holders without Founder Access.

“Sanctuary is where the central experience of EVE Frontier begins to take shape,” said Sæmundur Hermannsson, Game Director for EVE Frontier. “Riders awaken with very little and must learn to scavenge, build, adapt, and create their own place of safety in a world that remains dangerous even when they step away. This survival loop gives every system a clear purpose and establishes the foundation we will continue to deepen in future Cycles.”

Sanctuary introduces the first complete expression of EVE Frontier’s survival loop. Riders awaken inside the ruins of a mysterious megastructure, surrounded by the remains of those who came before. Guided by an unknown entity, they learn to fly, scavenge shattered ruins, construct their first tools, and take their first steps into a hostile galaxy shaped by stellar heat, scarcity, and lurking Ferals. A rebuilt new player experience and dynamic objective system guides contextually, surfacing relevant actions and opportunities as players encounter new materials, structures, enemies, tools, and systems. 

All previous vessels and modules have been replaced by a new modular ship and an initial selection of components. Players begin with the Root of a vessel and expand its capabilities by acquiring, integrating, and evolving modules that unlock new functionality and specializations. Basic printing, refining, and module construction can now be performed aboard the vessel, with further modules, combinations, and customization planned for future Cycles.

Stars are now active hazards, causing heat to accumulate on vessels exposed in open space. Distance and line of sight affect how quickly it builds, while wrecks, rocks, and structures provide temporary cover. Sustained exposure causes immediate effects and lasting damage that must be treated with new survival items. New Feral activity now gives the Frontier a more reactive and unpredictable edge. Strange lifecycles are beginning to emerge in the dark, giving players the choice to intervene early or let unknown threats develop in pursuit of greater potential rewards

A fuel-driven economy now allows Riders to exchange LUX with a test version of $EVE to acquire Mining Lenses, extract Crude Matter from rifts, and refine it into fuel. LUX is obtained by looting Feral Drones and trading with Roaming Trader Drones. Fuel powers ships, bases, industry, infrastructure, travel, and other essential systems, bringing the game closer to an economy shaped by scarcity, logistics, risk, and player choice.

The new Cutting Laser combines combat, scavenging, and extraction in one tool. Its mouse-aimed thermal beam can mine asteroids, salvage wrecks, destroy Ferals, and damage vessels without requiring a target lock, while also generating heat on affected targets. Dormant Gates can now be discovered, restored, and refueled to reconnect isolated regions and open routes into new star systems. 

Further improvements make it easier to build, navigate, and organize across the Frontier. Network Nodes can be placed more freely, System View updates highlight suitable construction areas, and clearer HUD and KEEP Monitor information improves navigation. Riders can now create or join Tribes from space, while three-dimensional characters are displayed through the Shell interface as a foundation for future customization.
