Stellar Cafe support for Steam empowers players to talk and interact with a quirky cast of hand-crafted robots at your desk, in an immersive VR world, and on the go
AUSTIN, TEXAS – July 29th, 2026 – AstroBeam, the groundbreaking studio building the future of voice interaction, today announced that its debut VR title, Stellar Cafe, is coming soon to Steam. The Steam launch adds Steam Frame, flat-screen PC, and Steam Deck support, letting more players try Stellar Cafe’s experimental voice-only gameplay without a VR headset. Players can wishlist the Steam Frame and flat-screen editions of Stellar Cafe on Steam today here.
Stellar Cafe is built around natural speech, where players talk to a quirky cast of characters who respond in real time with their own unique voices. Playing Stellar Cafe on flat-screen offers a range of optimizations, including support for gamepads and mouse-and-keyboard controls. Meanwhile, the Steam Frame version offers the original experience players have come to expect, including hand tracking and gesture interactions.
Created by Devin Reimer, co-creator of viral hit Job Simulator, Stellar Cafe invites players into a cozy sci-fi café, where robot patrons have problems to solve and stories to share. Players navigate the cafe and talk to its guests, offering unique solutions to their current situations. Each robot remembers discussion details and understands context, keeping conversations flowing naturally, just like in any real-world coffee shop. Everything is powered entirely by player expression; there’s no set script or dialogue tree, making Stellar Cafe the most natural-feeling game to-date.
“Voice interaction is the most natural interface humans have ever had. The future of games isn’t about learning new control schemes; it’s about technology finally learning how we already communicate,” said Devin Reimer, CEO and Founder of AstroBeam. “Stellar Cafe is an experiment for players, and the entire games industry, of what’s possible with this technology. The storytelling and interaction potential is boundless when digital characters can truly listen and respond to players without the limitation of scripted dialogue trees.”
Stellar Cafe originally launched for Meta Quest headsets in December and is available here.
