Mobile Industry Veteran, Clay Kellogg, to Lead and Scale Business Development Team to Support the Company’s Fast-Growing Publisher Network
SAN FRANCISCO – June 21, 2012 – Chartboost (www.chartboost.com), a disruptive technology platform that powers independence for mobile game developers, today announced that it has hired Clay Kellogg, former head of mobile platform and partnership strategy at Google and Admob Business Development lead, to serve as its Chief Revenue Officer.
Launched in October of last year, Chartboost has been one of the mobile gaming industry’s best-kept secrets. The San Francisco-based company has quietly deployed their technology to over 4,000 app developers, enabling them to negotiate direct deals within the gaming community. The company currently supports over two billion game sessions per month.
“Similar to AdMob’s origin, Chartboost set out to level the playing field for developers by providing them with the business infrastructure required to unlock the value of their user base,” said Kellogg, CRO, Chartboost. “Chartboost’s platform was built by developers, for developers – it is their success that drives our continued innovation.”
Kellogg joined Admob when the company had only 30 people, and built the North American Business Development team before being acquired by Google in 2009 for $750M.
“We’re thrilled to have Clay on board,” said Maria Alegre, CEO and co-founder at Chartboost. “His senior leadership experience from Google and AdMob will increase Chartboost’s already strong momentum as the platform of choice for mobile game developers worldwide.”
Chartboost aligns itself with other technology companies, like Urban Airship and TestFlight, who are focused on delivering great technology to game developers.
“We see ourselves as an engine that can power gaming companies and help them keep independence from publishing houses and ad networks,” said Alegre. “The same way Unity provides a game engine for developers, we want to become their business engine.”
Following its last major public announcement in February, when the company announced it had surpassed a total of one billion impressions served since its founding, Chartboost has grown radically to serve over two billion game sessions per month. Chartboost has also doubled in size from 12 to 24 people, tripled the number of apps in its network, and started working with top game developers — including Kabam, Beeline, Backflip and Outfit7 — which add to its impressive list of existing key partners, such as Kiloo, Crowdstar, Booyah, Pocket Gems, TinyCo, GREE & Funzio, and ngmoco.
