Squad-based hero battleground is calling for playtesters to sign up now and be the center of the next big competitive adventure.

LOS ANGELES – June 28, 2023  Theorycraft Games today revealed the first public look at their highly anticipated debut title, code-named Project Loki, a team-based, competitive PvP game and blend of genres, aimed at becoming the world’s next “10,000-hour game.” Project Loki is equal parts hero shooter, action game, and battle royale and combines the best of an all-star development team’s past experiences including League of Legends, VALORANT, Overwatch, Halo, Destiny, and Apex Legends. While Project Loki is still in early development, the team is confident in the core game loop and ready to share more by massively expanding their playtests. Theorycraft invites any interested tastemakers and community-builders to join the fray in their next PC playtest on June 29 + 30.

Check out the first footage of Project Loki, presented by Theorycraft Games CEO Joe Tung (EVP, League of Legends; Executive Producer, Destiny and Halo: Reach). To register your interest in playtesting, sign up on the Theorycraft website.

“As players and developers, we feel like it’s been a minute since there’s been something truly new and fun to play with your friends.” said Joe Tung, CEO of Theorycraft Games. “To make Project Loki, we took our collective experiences working on some of the biggest team-based PvP games like League, VALORANT, Apex, and Overwatch, and have been building with a group of hardcore playtesters out the gate. Now Project Loki has evolved into something fresh and unlike anything we’ve played so far, and we’re ready to take the next step. It might seem early but we became independent to take a big swing on behalf of players; to do that means involving them as soon as possible, showing our work, and building a community that we’ll listen to across every stage of development.”

What is Project Loki?
Project Loki is a squad-based hero battleground—a blend of genres and a new take on hero-based combat. Described by playtesters as “League meets Apex meets Smash,” Project Loki is an all-in-one group adventure, a competitive sandbox, and highlight factory. In a session of Loki, players will assemble a squad of heroes; outplay other teams in sprawling, free-flowing battles; run the edge of a huge world in the sky; and dream up crazy strategies in a massive combat sandbox.

Project Loki is still a work-in-progress, as the team has been developing from the core game loop (combat, movement, hero kits, etc.) out. This means meta-progression, competitive features, hero concepts, environmental design, and final art are all a work-in-progress.

Founded by key developers behind titles like League of Legends, VALORANT, Overwatch, Halo, Destiny, and Apex Legends, Theorycraft is dedicated to deep games worthy of thousands of hours of play, and multiplayer experiences that are just better with friends.
