Compact DepthSense™ 320 Camera Prototype Provides HD RGB, Quadruple Resolution of Current Popular Systems

SoftKinetic logoBRUSSELS – January 5, 2012 – SoftKinetic™, the leading developer of end-to-end gesture recognition solutions, today announced that it will demonstrate the newest prototype of its popular DepthSense™ line of time-of-flight cameras at next week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The DepthSense 320 (DS320) includes a high-resolution QVGA depth sensor and a wider field of view, combined with HD video and microphones. This system will provide high-quality depth tracking for video games, video conferencing and other interactive applications.

The DS320 features the highest native depth resolution of any camera currently on the market, enabling much more precise tracking of gestures and movements, including tracking of smaller details, such as fingers. Its 73-degree field of view is over 30 percent greater than current solutions, which allows more users to interact with the device simultaneously, and more importantly does not require much available space to enjoy gesture-based experiences.

“SoftKinetic has long been a supporter of the gesture recognition community, and the DS320 is a great example of how we have listened to their feedback and implemented the most-requested features, including HD RGB and a wider field of view,” said Michel Tombroff, CEO of SoftKinetic. “These innovations, combined with our iisu™ middleware, provide the ultimate end-to-end solution to create compelling gesture-based content.”

SoftKinetic will demonstrate the DS320 in the Technology Zone of its booth at CES, January 10–13, 2012 in the South Hall, Upper Level, booth 36062.
