SoftKinetic Adds New Support for Texas Instruments’ OMAP™ 4 Platform

Award-Winning iisu™ 3D Gesture Control Solution Now Available in Beta for ARM-Based Hardware

BRUSSELS & LAS VEGAS – January 11, 2012 – SoftKinetic™, the leading developer of end-to-end gesture recognition solutions, today announced that it has adapted its iisu™ (“the Interface IS U”) gesture recognition platform to the OMAP™ 4 smart multicore platform from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI). The solution, now entering beta, will allow application and content developers to build a new generation of consumer electronic and equipment applications that range from set-top boxes and smart televisions to personal computers and more.

The fully featured iisu (pronounced “eezoo”) gesture recognition middleware will be able to leverage the OMAP mobile processor’s multimedia hardware accelerator, which enables 1080p full HD and multi-standard video encode / decode. SoftKinetic’s solutions include a highly optimized CPU footprint for both efficiency and scalability to provide world-class gesture recognition offerings.

“TI’s OMAP technology is effective and versatile. Combined with iisu we can provide reliable, power-efficient and scalable solutions for embedded systems to dramatically expand the deployment of gesture technology,” said Eric Krzeslo, chief strategy officer at SoftKinetic. “We look forward to working with our customers to further advance gesture recognition applications in digital signage, robotics, automotive systems and beyond.”

“We welcome SoftKinetic’s optimization of its iisu 3.0 solution on our OMAP 4 platform, leveraging the unique hardware features offered by the OMAP mobile processor’s smart multicore architecture,” said Fred Cohen, director, OMAP user experience team, TI. “Touchless gesture will redefine how mobile users interact with their device, and will create new market and use-case opportunities across a wide spectrum of product spaces.”
