Pearl Abyss to Begin Self-Publishing Black Desert Online

The MMORPG will change publishers in time for the game’s five-year anniversary

Manhattan Beach, California — January 27, 2021Today, Pearl Abyss announced it will take over publishing rights for Black Desert Online in North America and Europe. This means Pearl Abyss will control publishing rights for the entire Black Desert franchise on all platforms, including current and next-gen consoles, PC, and mobile devices, excluding the South America region. Starting February 25, the game’s developer will also assume live service from long-time partner Kakao Games. Players can continue their Black Desert adventure and earn rewards for transferring their accounts.

SEOUL, South Korea — January 14, 2021 — Pearl Abyss announced today that Shadow Arena has shifted its primary game mode from 1v40 battle royale to a team-based “Trio Mode.” The change comes after an extensive review of player feedback during early access, which has given the developers the opportunity to give its players exactly what they’re asking for: more strategic and cooperative gameplay. The biggest change is a dramatic shift in scope, with the new “Trio Mode” narrowing combat into 3v3 battles, where each teammate has a clearly defined role.

Pearl Abyss announces self-publishing plans for Black Desert Online on PC

Roadmap reveals a new expansion, a PvP mode, mounts and Nova class launching on all platforms in 2021

Seoul, South Korea, December 14, 2020 — Pearl Abyss announced during the Calphe:ON Ball stream on December 12 that Pearl Abyss will consolidate both publishing and development of Black Desert Online starting February 24. The company also announced the content roadmap for Black Desert Online, Black Desert Console and Black Desert Mobile for the first half of 2021. For the first time ever, the franchise will receive a new class, Nova, simultaneously across all platforms on December 22.
